Lon Horton

Largely self-taught, Brockport artist Lon Horton brings to his art the personal characteristics which have made him a successful independent businessman: namely, a searching intellect, a direct and open manner of address, and a willingness to take risk. Lon works in watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. What his work lacks in academic finesse is made up by the expressiveness of the artist’s brushwork and by his powerful aptitude for color. Lon is at his best when he most freely departs from the literal and allows color to control and integrate his compositions. Born and reared in the Rochester area, Lon finds his favorite subjects in those places which embody the history of upstate New York.
